Thoughts from a Survivor of Hell

Posted onJune 19, 2020June 19, 202011 Comments

Some of us were thrown directly into the flames. Others of us were slowly seared by the heat, like a hot dog on a stick. Still others of us managed to stay away from the flames most of the time, and were burned less than others. At least that’s what we think. Read More …

Disclaimer

This blog is a real-time journal of a journey out of a cult. When I began this blog in 2010, I was in an abusive situation, held captive by years of programming that told me I needed to submit more, obey more, shut up, and be quiet. As a result, the early entries are laced with the toxicity of the cult teachings and legalism that I was under at the time.

Since then, my life has drastically changed. I broke free from the cult teachings and have been slowly learning to follow Jesus instead of legalistic garbage. It's been a long, hard slog.

This means that there are many posts on this blog that I no longer agree with or hold to be true. I could go back through and delete or hide them; however, at this point, I choose to leave them visible. They are the journal entries of a man leaving abuse and legalism and coming into the light of day. They provide a raw, unfiltered look at "where I was". Take them for what they are.

And if you find something you disagree with, there's a good chance that I would now disagree with it as well.
